House of Cards

This piece is the first of my sustained investigation and it's based on the phrase "A house of cards",  a fragile house that can fall apart easily. I referenced my own house while making this piece and although I might not have the most fragile household, I think the piece can be related to others and not just my own experience. I used face cards from the deck to represent me and my mom. 

I always thought playing cards would be a fun thing to work with and I think my finished piece kind of feels like collage. This piece is not exactly as fragile as a house of cards. I cut the base pieces out of poster board and then sided each one of them with the edges of cards before putting the pieces together. I used long ways folded strips of the cards to make the joining walls look cleaner.
