Coming up with an idea for this project was easier than usual. I knew from the start that I wanted to work with cardboard, especially because of the ridged texture you can reveal by peeling back a layer. I also wanted to recreate an older piece of technology, so I decided on a vintage television.
This project was genuinely fun to build because I allowed myself to experiment freely. That said, I learned the importance of measuring more than once before cutting. My eagerness led to a few rough edges, especially when I rushed with the X-Acto knife. To enhance the surface texture, I added touches of metallic gold paint to the exterior. I later used the same paint to create a city skyline backdrop reminiscent of talk show sets, which became the interior focal point of the piece.
Although I’m happy with the final result, I do think the construction could have been cleaner. Hot glue isn’t the easiest adhesive to control, and it definitely got messy in a few spots. Still, I'm proud of the concept and overall execution.
